Saturday mornings with Gracie

This is a typical Saturday morning with Gracie. Hollie took this picture around 10 o'clock. Sleeping in, my favorite. Sleeping in w/ Hollie and Gracie, priceless! O.K. enough of the corny-ness but really, this is by far my favorite Saturday past time. I am loving being a dad which is a mountain load more than I could say for the first 36 hours Gracie was born. I was really nervous and overwhelmed at first but it has completely worn off and I love every minute of it now. So much, that I don't want to go to work every morning. Is this typical or am I just nutty? You be the judge. Work is going fine, just busy. I am currently serving 96 students in 6 schools so I tend to run around a lot. It gets kind of crazy and I forget things sometimes, but surprisingly, not as often as you'd think. When I get home from work all I want to do is hang out with my girls. I have a few house projects that still need completing but I can never find enough motivation to start on them cause frankly I would rather be with Hollie and Gracie. Well that's all I have to report right now. Bye.

Dr. Appointment Results...

Gracie went for a 4 week well checkup because I was concerned about her "Baby Acne" and because I wanted to know how she has grown. Well... She is now 10 lbs 1 oz so she has gained about 1 1/4 lbs since birth which corresponds to the 75th percentile. She has grown 2 inches in length which puts her on the 97th percentile... WOAH! She got the height from Luke I guess. Her acne is doing much better and starting to go away. We are so glad. Everything is going well, including nursing. It is almost pain-free!

Such a CALM baby!

Heavenly Father gave us the calmest baby I have ever known. She loves to just look around and sometimes smile. Her eyesight is getting to be a lot more focused so that makes it fun. She hardly ever cries except to eat and if she thinks I forgot about her. She loves her bouncer chair. She grunts all the time which is really funny. We will try capture it on video. She is sleeping 3-4 hours before waking up to eat at night. She is not very good at burping, or that could be my fault. Today also marks the first day that she has blown her pants out 2x within 12 hours. I am sure they will get closer than that even. AAAH!

4 wks old!

The cute flower bow that you see in some of her pics was given to her by Lisa! I love seeing what different things I can clip it on. I think I am going to try and make some more like it. Thanks Lisa!

Gracie's favorite thing to do...

Playtime!

Luke's Girls!

Come home from work Dad. We miss you!

3 weeks old!

Growing up too fast- 2 wks old!

Thanks for the Boppy Pillow Bill and Bri.

Gracie Sleeping

We can't watch this and not laugh. She is so cute! The last little noise is Luke imitating her little snore so don't get confused. Who did she get this trait from??

We love you Grammy Lenna!

I am never going to forget when Lenna helped me take Gracie to her first Dr. appointment (Dr. Albibi) and we sat in the parking lot for like 10 minutes trying to get the cars seat out of the car. I had not read the manual on the seat and neither of us could figure out how to detatch it from the base which stays in the car. We finally figured out that anything colored red was like a lever which, if pulled on, could release our little Gracie. We thought that we were going to have to have the Dr. see her in the car. I was kind of panicking. Now I realize... if all else failed, we could have taken her out of the car seat and just carried her in. DUH!!! :)

Grandpa Rick arrives with the most comfortable spot to sleep!

Gracie loves her Grandpa already! We are glad he could get away from work to be with us for a few days too.

First picture at home

She loves to sprawl out and stretch.

Lenna was there through it all too. She was a great friend and suppport to have for the next week and a half. Thank you so much!

Behind the scenes... who can it be but Grammy Lenna?

How in the world did we bring so much stuff? Good thing they had a wagon.

Going home!!

We couldn't have found a better OBGYN than Dr. Graham, except maybe my mom whose done it 8x!

The Dad: An irreplacable support to Hollie and Gracie

I am so excited to finally be a MOM! And a cleaned up one at that.

First Bath- No cries at all...

The new Barber family of 3!

Dad and the "Baby Burrito"- her first nickname!

Luke is the KING of swaddle wrapping! He had to teach me how...

He learned to the secrets of swaddle wrapping at at his hospital internship. It really made doing infant hearing screenings much easier.

We finally get to look at her!

After a few minutes in this world...

The best "First" of all!

Gracie Joy is our best "First" of all. She was born on August 20, 2008 at 7:44 PM. She was 8 lbs 9 oz and 20 3/4 inches long. She had a little bit of "sandy" blonde hair. Gracie was named because we liked the name; we didn't know anyone that tainted the name, and we are especially grateful for the grace of God when all is said and done. She shares her middle name with her Aunt Nancy (thanks Nance); and "Men are that that they might have joy (read the footnote on "joy" for that scripture;" and she is literally our pride and " joy."

1 Year in Panama City Beach: A time for firsts!

We can't believe we have lived in Panama City Beach now for just over 1 year. We moved her in August 2007. Since moving here we have surfed our first wave, eaten our first grits and boiled peanuts, worried about our first hurricane/tornado warnings, been stung by our first jellyfish, worked our first REAL jobs, and purchased our first town home.

First Post Ever!

This is the official first post by Luke, Hollie, and Gracie. The purpose of this blog is to have a fun place to post pics and updates so family and friends can see what's going down on the Barber front.
